The Beaver Uniform

All our Beaver Scouts look very smart in their uniform, and are responsible for making sure they respect it by looking after it and wearing it properly. While prospective members are trying out Beavers, they do not need a uniform, though after talking to Birch, they can wear uniform with out badges or a Group scarf (called a “necker”). Once invested the uniform consists of a Beaver sweatshirt and polo shirt and Group Scarf. They will be given the badges, group scarf and woggle by the leader when they are invested. Our Colonies do not wear baseball caps. At normal meetings the Beavers should wear trousers that are quite hard wearing as they well be playing games and sitting on the floor; however, when we go on days out the Beavers should wear dark coloured trousers and shoes.

It can be very confusing working out where all the badges need to go on your Beavers sweatshirt so click on this link to go to a helpful picture. The cost of badges when a Beaver joins and activity badges is covered by the subscription fee, occasional badges such as event badges (e.g. Pinewood Derby, Beaver Funday etc) are optional and are either included in the cost of the event or available from the Leader for a small payment. And here’s a tip for getting those badges onto a sleeve – insert a bottle into the sleeve when sewing; makes things much easier or use “badge glue” though this does leave a mark if a badge is removed.
